2024 Annual General Meeting and Awards Banquet Recap
The 2024 AGM and Awards Banquet held on March 5, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta, is still the talk of the town over a week later. The morning AGM sessions delved into the current landscape of Alberta’s resource sector, touching on topics such as labour markets, water resources, and the perspective of Canada’s youth on the industry. In the evening, a celebratory energy swept through Hall D of the Edmonton Convention Centre as distinguished individuals and organizations were recognized for their contributions toward a sustainable resource sector. Notable award recipients included Cenovus, John Zhou, Wade Eno, Adam Martinson, and Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation all of whom were celebrated for their outstanding achievements.
The Alberta Chamber of Resources Welcomes Naomi Tercier as ACR President Following 2024 Annual General Meeting
Born and raised in Alberta, Naomi spent her early years in Edmonton and Bonnyville before moving to Quebec for her final year of high school and CEGEP. Growing up in a franco-family, she has a deep connection to the boreal landscape where she spent many magical summers.
Naomi studied at the University of Calgary, where she obtained degrees in Archaeology and Communications. She is currently working on completing the CMT program at the Smith Fa
Committee Update: Mining Industry Advisory Committee (MIAC)
In 1990, the Mining Engineering program at the University of Alberta (UofA) was targeted for closure due to low enrollment and cost reduction targets at the University. At the same time other Mining Engineering programs across North America were in decline and unstable. The mining industry members of ACR recognized both the future potential of the mining sector and the criticality of a strong mining program.
