    Policy Insights and Considerations

    Alberta is unique within Canada from an economic and emissions profile perspective. This demands a tailored approach to Alberta's economy to ensure emission reductions are achieved while not impacting the economic growth of our economy.  Since 2007, Alberta has implemented its industrial emissions policy achieving significant reductions while enabling economic growth and ensuring the competitiveness of our industry. Alberta's current TIER system will be outlined in addition to some of the potential areas where changes may improve the system moving forward based off stakeholder feedback. 

    Alberta has also made significant progress in reducing emissions through its innovative approach to methane as well as significant funding programs over the years.
