Resource Industry of the Future: Pathways Framework

The Alberta Chamber of Resources released the Resource Industry of the Future: Pathways Framework on June 14, 2022, at the Mid Year Meeting. The Resource Industry of the Future Working Group (RIOTF) created this report for the purpose of identifying conceptual practical pathways, over the next 30 years, in support of a low carbon sustainable resource economy in Alberta. The paper identifies the barriers to success and opportunities for consideration as well as and opportunities for provincial and federal governments to support GHG emission reduction. The report breaks down the actions required by each industry sector to help position Alberta’s resource industry for GHG reduction and a sustainable future.

ACR membership consists of organizations from a variety of sectors within Alberta’s resource industry and our membership is innovative, forward-thinking, and ambitious. They have helped create Alberta’s mature ecosystem for energy innovation and collaboration and will remain a part of its future as we continue to build on and leverage this ecosystem for further success. The RIOTF report builds on the knowledge and infrastructure we already have in place in Alberta and provides direction for industry and governments as we collectively work to lower GHG emissions and create a cleaner world.

At the Mid Year Meeting in Calgary, a panel consisting of contributors to the paper discussed the opportunities presented in the report, the next steps for Canada and Alberta and how the ACR, through its members’ expertise, can assist.
