The current situation in Alberta paints a stark picture of a critical water shortage brought about by a dry summer in 2023 and an unusually dry winter.
The 2024 AGM and Awards Banquet held on March 5, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta, is still the talk of the town over a week later. In 1990, the Mining Engineering program at the University of Alberta (UofA) was targeted for closure due to low enrollment and cost reduction targets at the University. At the same time other Mining Engineering programs across North America were in decline and unstable.
