Pat Carlson, founding chief executive officer and original director of Seven Generations Energy Ltd., has been selected to receive ACR’s Resource Leadership Award in recognition of the outstanding work he has done and his extensive history of helping to build Alberta’s resource sector. Mr. Carlson, who retired as the company’s CEO in mid-2017, earned a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Calgary and went on to have a long and successful career in Alberta’s resource sector, including North American Oil Sands Ltd., Krang Energy and Passage Energy. Recently, he is known for his work in founding and growing Seven Generations Energy into the successful company that it is today.
Mr. Carlson is recognized as a leader in pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology and its application to levels that define leading performance in the oil and gas sector. His philosophy on providing superior stakeholder service is reflected in the company’s Level 1 Corporate Policy and has led to beneficial stakeholder relationships with the communities and businesses where the company operates. Mr. Carlson’s leadership has also led to new and innovative approaches in dealing with key environmental issues, such as reducing water use in hydraulic fracturing, minimizing the company’s greenhouse gas emissions and helping to preserve natural habitat through the use of multi-well Super Pads that reduce the footprint on the land.
“Mr. Carlson was selected among a number of respected candidates as ACR’s award winner for 2017,” said Ron Kruhlak, ACR President. “He presents a unique leadership style that makes him a remarkable engineering and energy innovator, creating value and expanding resource opportunities. It’s through his commitment to the triple bottom line and this alignment with ACR’s vision of “Sustainable Development of Alberta’s Resources” which warranted this recognition.”
