The ACR is pleased to announce the 2016 winners of Resource Leader of the Year and Indigenous Leader of the Year.
These awards are presented annually at ACR's Awards Banquet in February to a person, organization or project that has demonstrated commitment to the ACR’s mission of providing leadership for the orderly and responsible development of our natural resources.

Resource Leader of the Year
The Resource Leader of the Year is presented to an individual, organization or project that has been significant to the sustainable development of Alberta’s natural resources.
Jim Ellis, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Energy Regulator has been selected as Resource Leader of the Year in recognition of his outstanding leadership in establishing and enhancing the Alberta regulatory system.
Indigenous Leader of the Year
The Indigenous Leader of the Year is presented to an individual, organization or project that has advanced the relationship between the Indigenous peoples of Alberta and the natural resource sector.
Audrey Poitras, President of the Métis Nation of Alberta is selected as Indigenous Leader of the Year in recognition of her life-long dedication to advancing the cause of the Métis Nation and building bridges with the resource sector that have helped to ensure there are shared benefits for everyone.
The Alberta Chamber of Resources Award in Mining Engineering is a $2,000 scholarship awarded on grounds of both academic merit and extra-curricular achievements for second-year undergraduate students enrolled in the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering School of Mining. The scholarships are sponsored by the mining companies in the Alberta Chamber of Resources.
The Ian Muirhead Scholarship is presented to the student who best combines the academic and extra-curricular achievement attributes.
